Celebrating Our Catholic Faith
October 11, 2012 – November 24, 2013
October marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, major milestones in the Church today. To celebrate this Pope Benedict XVI has designated October 11, 2012 – November 24, 2013 as a “Year of Faith”. This is an opportunity to especially embrace or re-embrace the goodness, the beauty, the joy that is Roman Catholicism. The “door” of faith is opened to us all at baptism but this year is a time to reexamine the faith, walk through that door, and look at it anew as we fall in love again with Christ and His Church.
The Year of Faith is an opportunity provided by the Church to encourage and make space for some real steps to relearn what Catholicism is really about. A time to replace stereotypes and misinformation about the faith and replace it with reliable information that will nurture greater unity. I hope that each of us will take advantage of this year in some concrete ways. The second page of the bulletin lists some ways to participate in this year ».
Let's celebrate our Catholic Faith in a wonderful way over the next twelve months.
